We are now seeking an experienced someone to join our team in a field based role, working primarily at customer sites. About the Role
As a Volvo Penta Technician, you will:
- Attend customer sites to carry out diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning of heavy diesel and mobile plant equipment.
- Perform fault-finding across engine, electrical, hydraulic, driveline, cooling, fuel, aftertreatment (where applicable), and control systems.
- Provide breakdown response and restore equipment to safe operational condition with minimal downtime.
- Perform predelivery inspections & fitout works on new engines prior to delivery
- Complete scheduled servicing in accordance with OEM specifications and internal service standards.
- Conduct pre-service and post-repair inspections, including operational and safety checks.
- Identify and report wear, damage, and emerging issues to prevent failures.
- Use diagnostic tools, laptops, service software, and technical documentation to troubleshoot effectively.
- Accurately document job cards, timesheets, service reports, and parts usage.
- Provide clear technical communication to customers, supervisors, and support teams.

About You
To be successful, you will have experience with:
- Diesel engine diagnostics and repairs
- Electrical systems and basic electronic diagnostics
- Preventative maintenance and condition assessment
- Port equipment (reach stackers/straddles) and heavy material-handling.
- Crushing/screening plant.
- Familiarity with diesel generator service and load-testing concepts.
- OEM training and diagnostic tool experience (Volvo Penta preferred).
You will need to hold:
- Trade qualification: Diesel Mechanic / Plant Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (or equivalent).
- Drivers Licence
- High Risk Work Licence - desirable (e.g., LF/LO/EWP/Dogging/Rigging depending on sites).
- Forklift Licence
