Primary objective
Provide high level administrative support service to mediators, claimants, insurers and other staff in the Rehabilitation and
Compensation team to ensure the smooth running of the mediation process.
Context statement
NT WorkSafe is a division of the Department of Attorney-General and Justice responsible for assisting business and workers
understand their obligations under workers rehabilitation and compensation, Work Health and Safety (WHS), dangerous
goods and electrical safety legislation in the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high-level support to mediators, claimants, insurers and other Rehabilitation and Compensation staff.
2. Using internal guidance material and corporate advisory material respond to verbal and written requests for information
from workers, government, employers, insurers and the public on workers rehabilitation and compensation legislative
provisions, preparing written responses as required.
3. Prepare reports to assist in the monitoring of the mediation services.
4. Provide research assistance in the area of workers compensation and rehabilitation as required.
5. Assist with the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines associated with the mediation process to
facilitate best practice mediation services.
6. Deliver education sessions to industry, the community and staff on workers compensation and rehabilitation issues.
7. Provide administrative support to the Permanent Impairment Coordinator and within the work team as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven highly developed interpersonal, oral, written and negotiation skills with ability to communicate effectively and
work cooperatively with persons at all work levels.
2. Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to comply with, procedures, legislation, policies and regulatory frameworks.
3. Demonstrated ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines with high level attention to detail.
4. Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and demonstrated integrity in dealing with clients.
5. Demonstrated computer literacy skills, particularly word processing, databases and spread sheets.
6. Proven ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. A tertiary qualification in a field relevant to workers compensation and rehabilitation or demonstrated practical
experience with workers compensation and rehabilitation practices and procedures.
