Salary: $76,500 plus 11.5% superannuation

We are seeking an experienced automotive motor mechanic for our newly built fully
equipped independent workshop located at Mentone, VIC.
This opportunity is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a
motor mechanic. To secure this position, you are required to have essential skills and
techniques to repair and service vehicles to their original condition. This hands-on role
involves working on vehicles of all brands including majority of European vehicles with a
variety of tools and materials.
Tasks and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts.
- Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components and referring to service manual as needed.
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes and lubrications, to achieve smooth running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.
- Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired.
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance.
- Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers.
- May inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
- May respond to vehicle breakdown service calls.
Qualifications
AQF Certificate III or IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnoses
Skills and other requirements
- Identifying the occupational health and safety and workshop procedures required to complete tasks safely, including procedures for: lifting and supporting vehicles and machinery; safely handling hazardous oils, fluids, and greases.
- Complying with environmental requirements, including procedures for trapping, storing, and disposing of lubricants and fluids released during servicing operations.
- Inspecting the compliance and safety of all lifting equipment prior to undertaking the task.
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicles components.
- Repairing or replacing worn or faulty parts and reassembling mechanical cmponents, referring to service manuals as needed.
- Ensuring smooth and correct operation of vehicles by performing scheduled services (major/minor), or logbook services, to manufacturer’s requirements.
- Inspecting, testing and adjusting mechanical parts for proper performance after repair – to ensure that repairs have been carried out correctly.
- Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers such as diagnostic scan tool
- Testing and repairing electrical/electronic systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and fuel injection.
- Inspecting vehicles and reporting any required replacement parts or changes to the Roadworthy Certificate standard.
