Passion Disability Support Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and resilient Male Disability Support Worker to support an NDIS participant who presents with high and unpredictable behavioural escalations.
This role is best suited to support workers who remain calm under pressure, have proven experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, and can confidently implement de-escalation strategies while maintaining a safe, person-centred approach.
About the Role
You will provide high-quality, individualised support that promotes the participant's independence, dignity, and quality of life while responding appropriately to complex behavioural presentations.
Available Shifts
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Additional shifts may become available as services expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in accordance with the participant's support plans.
- Apply proactive and reactive de-escalation strategies during behavioural escalations.
- Maintain a calm, professional, and therapeutic approach in challenging situations.
- Support community access and daily living activities.
- Assist with personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks as required.
- Follow Behaviour Support Plans (BSP) and restrictive practice requirements where applicable.
- Accurately document incidents, progress notes, and shift reports.
- Work collaboratively with the participant's support network and clinical professionals.
- Promote the participant's choice, independence, safety, and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with high and unpredictable behaviours of concern.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during crisis situations.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Current National Police Check.
- Valid Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable, roadworthy vehicle with Comprehensive Car Insurance.
- Australian working rights.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Highly Desirable
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Mental Health, Community Services, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting participants with:
- Complex behaviours
- Psychosocial disabilities
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Intellectual disabilities
- High-intensity support needs
- Experience with manual handling, personal care, and medication assistance.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and person-centred support.
