We are seeking an energetic and highly organised Student Activities Coordinator to develop and manage a varied program of social, cultural and recreational activities for our international students.
About the role
The Student Activities Coordinator will be responsible for planning, promoting and leading monthly student activities and events. The successful applicant will engage confidently with students, coordinate with external providers and ensure that every activity is well organised, affordable, safe and enjoyable.
This is a hands-on role requiring availability to attend activities during the week and on weekends when required.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate a varied calendar of monthly student activities and events.
- Create and maintain an activities calendar for students.
- Promote upcoming activities throughout the school and encourage student participation.
- Develop promotional materials and communicate activity information clearly to students.
- Liaise with tourism operators, attractions and event providers.
- Negotiate affordable group rates, special offers and suitable arrangements for students.
- Order and manage tickets for major Gold Coast theme parks and other attractions.
- Attend and take the lead at all scheduled student activities.
- Monitor activities and assist students throughout each event.
- Maintain accurate records relating to bookings, payments, attendance and providers.
- Engage positively with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Take photographs and assist with promoting activities, where appropriate and authorised.
About you
You will be friendly, enthusiastic and comfortable taking the lead with groups of international students. You will also have:
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confidence engaging with students from different cultural backgrounds.
- The ability to promote activities and encourage student participation.
- Strong attention to detail when managing bookings, payments and attendance lists.
- The ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
- A professional, reliable and student-focused approach.
- Confidence communicating and negotiating with external providers.
- Good computer and administrative skills.
- Availability to attend activities during weekdays, evenings or weekends when required.
Experience in international education, tourism, hospitality, events or student services would be highly regarded. Additional language skills would also be an advantage but are not essential.
