About the role
OPlus Health Grafton is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. Located in Grafton NSW 2460, this role is pivotal to the smooth operation of our medical practice. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and efficient environment. This position is essential to ensuring that our practice runs smoothly, patient information is managed securely, and administrative processes support the clinical team in delivering excellent patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Greeting patients upon arrival and maintaining a warm, professional demeanour in reception
- Scheduling and confirming appointments using practice management systems, ensuring efficient patient flow
- Processing patient registration and updating medical records with accurate information
- Managing patient enquiries and telephone calls, providing information and directing calls appropriately
- Handling patient billing, processing payments and explaining accounts when necessary
- Managing correspondence, including letters and referrals, ensuring timely distribution
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy legislation and health data protection requirements
- Assisting clinical staff by preparing patient files and records prior to appointments
- Managing waiting areas to ensure they remain clean, organised and welcoming
- Performing general administrative tasks including filing, data entry and document management
What we're looking for
- 2 years' experience working as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
- Quick learner
- Proficiency with practice management software and electronic health record systems
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and understanding of healthcare privacy legislation
- Professional telephone manner and customer service experience
- Experience in Best Practice software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general IT competency
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support clinical staff
- A patient-focused approach and genuine passion for providing excellent customer service
- Has an understanding of Privacy and Confidentiality
- Ideally, certification or training in medical administration, or a recognised receptionist qualification
- Experience in checking, maintaining and stocking pathology consumables in the clinic
