ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a dedicated Surveying Science Technician to join our team on a full-time basis.
As a Surveying Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of large-scale solar farm construction projects by providing accurate survey data and coordinating day-to-day survey operations. This hands-on position combines technical surveying responsibilities with team leadership, overseeing a small team undertaking survey, QA and rectification activities. You will be responsible for carrying out field surveys, verifying survey control, processing and validating survey data, and ensuring all work is completed accurately, safely and in accordance with project requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Leading and coordinating a team of 10 people across survey, QA, and rectification activities on large-scale solar farm projects.
- Training team members and coordinating daily activities for visual inspections and Total Station checks.
- Carrying out field surveys and set-out activities for trench excavation and construction works.
- Verifying survey control points and ensuring the accuracy of positioning data before excavation commenced.
- Conducting as-built surveys to record the final location and dimensions of completed trenches.
- Collecting survey measurements using GPS, GNSS, Total Station and other survey equipment.
- Processing, validating and analysing survey information to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assisting engineers and project supervisors by providing accurate survey data and technical support.
- Preparing survey reports, records and documentation related to completed work.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
- Minimum 3 years' experience undertaking construction surveying activities within the civil construction, infrastructure or renewable energy sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading, supervising or coordinating a field-based survey and/or quality assurance team.
- Proven experience carrying out set-out, control and as-built surveys on active construction projects.
- High Risk Work Licences or plant operating tickets (e.g. Telehandler, Forklift, Skid Steer or similar).
- Demonstrated experience using GPS, GNSS and Total Station survey equipment in a construction environment.
- Experience processing, validating and interpreting survey data to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and project requirements.
- Experience supporting engineers, supervisors and construction teams by providing accurate survey information and technical advice.
- Experience preparing survey records, reports and as-built documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, IFC plans and construction specifications.
- Strong understanding of QA requirements and construction tolerances.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to coordinate daily site activities.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Willingness to travel and work on remote project sites on a roster basis
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate a field team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Safety-focused with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Practical problem solver with sound technical judgement.
- Reliable, adaptable and able to work autonomously.
Salary
If successful, you will be paid a base salary of approximately $92,500 per annum.
Pay: Up to $92,500.00 per year
