Casual Disability Support Worker (Male) – Seaford VIC

The Able Group is looking for a male Disability Support Worker to join our team and support a participant based in Seaford.
This is an opportunity to build a genuine working relationship with someone who enjoys getting out into the community, staying active and having meaningful conversations. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, confident, patient and genuinely enjoys supporting people to live the life they choose.
About the Participant
The participant lives with cognitive disability, autism and mental health challenges. At times, situations outside of his control can lead to frustration and verbal escalation. He benefits from support workers who remain calm, don’t take things personally and can confidently use redirection, reassurance and de-escalation strategies while allowing him the space to express how he’s feeling.
Most shifts are community based, with some support provided within the participant’s apartment.
The Kind of Person We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a genuine, down-to-earth bloke who can build rapport through authenticity, patience and mutual respect. Someone who enjoys being active, getting out into the community and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
The participant responds best to someone who is confident without being confrontational, has a good sense of humour, can handle a bit of banter and remains calm when emotions are running high. You’ll need to have a thick skin, understand that frustration isn’t personal, and be able to provide perspective without arguing. The goal is to allow the participant to express himself while helping redirect conversations in a positive and respectful way.

Shifts Available
- Thursday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Casual position
- Immediate start available
- Opportunity for additional shifts as the service grows
Your Responsibilities
- Support community access and meaningful activities
- Assist with daily living tasks within the participant’s apartment
- Build a positive, professional relationship based on trust and respect
- Use effective communication, redirection and de-escalation strategies
- Promote independence, choice and control
- Complete shift notes and required documentation
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to complete)
