Environmental Health Solutions (EHS)
Melbourne & Geelong VIC | Full Time
About EHS
Environmental Health Solutions (EHS) is an independent multidisciplinary consultancy providing occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, mould and environmental consulting services across Victoria.
We work with a diverse range of government, education, commercial, industrial and property clients, delivering practical advice and technical solutions to manage workplace and environmental health risks.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Occupational Hygienist / Occupational Hygiene Consultant to join our team.
This is a hands-on consulting role with a genuine mix of fieldwork, technical reporting, client interaction and project work.
The Role
You will work across a broad range of occupational hygiene and hazardous materials projects, with the opportunity to develop your technical skills and take greater ownership of projects as your experience grows.
Depending on your experience, your work may include:
- Occupational exposure monitoring for dust, respirable crystalline silica, chemicals and other airborne contaminants
- Occupational noise assessments and noise monitoring
- Indoor air quality investigations
- Mould and moisture investigations
- Asbestos and hazardous materials surveys
- Asbestos air monitoring and clearance inspections
- Development of asbestos and hazardous materials management plans
- Respiratory protective equipment and fit testing programs
- Workplace exposure and health risk assessments
- Interpretation of monitoring results and preparation of technical reports
- Providing practical advice and recommendations to clients
- Managing small to medium consulting projects
- Liaising directly with clients, contractors and other consultants
You won't be limited to one type of work. We want someone who is interested in developing across occupational hygiene and building-related environmental consulting.
About You
We are interested in speaking with both experienced Occupational Hygienists and consultants who are earlier in their occupational hygiene career.
Ideally, you will have:
- Qualifications in occupational hygiene, science, environmental health, OHS or a related discipline
- Experience in occupational hygiene, hazardous materials or environmental consulting
- An understanding of occupational exposure monitoring principles and relevant Australian standards and guidance
- Strong written communication and technical reporting skills
- Confidence working independently in the field
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal directly with clients
- Strong attention to detail
- A practical approach to problem solving
- A current Australian driver's licence
Experience in asbestos and hazardous materials consulting will be highly regarded.
An AIOH membership or progress towards professional occupational hygiene certification would also be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why Join EHS?
EHS is large enough to work on significant projects but small enough that you won't become another number.
You'll work directly with experienced consultants and have exposure to projects from the initial site investigation through to reporting, recommendations and project delivery.
We offer:
- A broad variety of occupational hygiene and environmental consulting work
- Exposure to major government, education and commercial projects
- Support and mentoring from experienced industry professionals
- Opportunities to develop your technical and consulting skills
- Opportunities to take ownership of projects and client relationships
- A supportive team environment
- A mix of office and field-based work
- Ongoing professional development
- Career progression as the business continues to grow
We are particularly interested in people who want to build a long-term career in occupational hygiene rather than simply perform repetitive field monitoring.
Interested?
If you are an experienced Occupational Hygienist looking for greater variety and responsibility, or you have relevant consulting experience and want to develop further within occupational hygiene, we'd like to hear from you.
Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and the type of role you are looking for.
Applications will be treated confidentially.
