Step into your next leadership role with Bunge! We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Assistant Supervisor to help lead our Tumby Bay operations. If you're passionate about agriculture, safety, people, and problem-solving - this could be your next big move.
About the role
As the Assistant Supervisor at Tumby Bay, you’ll be a key leader helping to drive the success of one of our essential grain-handling sites on the Eyre Peninsula. This role blends hands-on operational work with strategic coordination and team leadership - making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, challenge, and real-world impact.
With the support and guidance of the Operations Supervisor you will lead a diverse team of permanent and seasonal employees. From overseeing grain receival and storage during the peak of harvest, to managing outloading logistics and grain quality throughout the year, you’ll be involved in every aspect of the supply chain.
This is a role where you’ll be expected to lead from the front. Whether you’re mentoring a seasonal worker or stepping in to help with a technical issue, your influence will shape both the culture and performance of the site.
Duties
- Lead and supervise daily operations across the Tumby Bay group, ensuring all grain receival, storage, and outloading activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Support the Supervisor in planning and delivering operational targets, including logistics coordination and workforce planning.
- Willingness and ability to travel between Tumby Group sites - Arno Bay and Port Neill as required.
- Coach and mentor a team of permanent and seasonal staff, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including growers, carriers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth and professional service delivery.
- Champion safety on site by conducting checks, reporting hazards, supporting investigations, and maintaining compliance with Bunge’s safety policies.
- Operate and oversee grain-handling equipment, support preventative maintenance, and escalate mechanical or infrastructure issues as needed.
- Assist with planning for harvest operations, including site preparation, intake coordination, staff training, and storage capacity management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by maintaining site records, participating in audits, and sharing insights to drive performance and efficiency.
About you
- Prove experience in operations, ideally within grain handling, logistics, agriculture, or a similar industry.
- Experience with leading or supervising large teams - hands-on, practical approach with the ability to lead by example.
- Strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational best practices.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to manage teams and build relationships.
- Skilled in planning, coordinating, and prioritising tasks in a dynamic, seasonal environment.
- Confident problem-solver with sound decision-making abilities.
- Motivated, adaptable, and ready to take ownership of a key site in the supply chain.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using operational and reporting systems.
- Current driver’s license.
