Salary: $80,000–$82,000 per annum plus superannuationAbout the RoleWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen team on a full-time basis.The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and preparing menu items, cooking and presenting high-quality meals, monitoring food quality, managing stock and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.The duties and responsibilities of this position are aligned with the occupation of Chef – ANZSCO 351311.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning menus in consultation with management, taking into account seasonal ingredients, customer preferences and operational requirements.
- Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with the control of kitchen expenditure.
- Selecting, ordering and inspecting food ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients received from suppliers.
- Preparing, seasoning, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Ensuring meals are prepared consistently and presented to the required standard.
- Coordinating food preparation and cooking activities during service periods.
- Regulating the temperature of ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment.
- Preparing meals to accommodate dietary requirements and special customer requests.
- Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance to cooks and other kitchen staff.
- Training and supervising kitchen staff where required.
- Monitoring portion sizes and reducing food wastage.
- Monitoring stock levels and ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety throughout the kitchen.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable food safety, workplace health and safety and sanitation requirements.
- Assisting with the development of new dishes and seasonal menu items.
- Reporting equipment faults, maintenance issues and food safety concerns to management.
- Performing other reasonable duties consistent with the role of a Chef.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
