Due to ongoing business requirements, we are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and project specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
- Select, prepare, measure and clean metal stock for fabrication.
- Cut and shape steel and other metal sections using hand tools, flame cutting equipment and cutting machines.
- Bend, form and shape steel sections and pipes using hand and power tools and heating techniques.
- Align and position metal components accurately using measuring instruments and fabrication equipment.
- Join metal components using welding, bolting and riveting techniques.
- Inspect welds, joints and fabricated components to ensure accuracy, strength and required quality standards.
- Perform grinding, polishing, filing and other finishing processes.
- Fabricate, assemble and repair structural steel components and other metal products.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant trade qualification in metal fabrication, engineering fabrication or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in metal fabrication or structural steel fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Practical experience with fabrication, welding, cutting and metal-forming equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
