We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Field Technician to join the Infrastructure Department. In this role, you will provide safe, accurate, and cost-effective field technical and survey support for Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) construction, monitoring, and related earthworks activities by delivering reliable survey measurements, field staking, construction guidance, and QA/QC assistance to ensure works are completed in accordance with design requirements, operational priorities, and safety standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Carry out daily field survey tasks to support TSF construction activities.

Perform survey measurements for dam raises, berms, slopes, crest levels, drainage works, and construction progress

Conduct stake-out / set-out for TSF construction alignment, crest lines, toe lines, berms, drainage channels, and other design features

Install and maintain survey pegs / stakes / reference points for construction control

Assist with as-built survey measurements of TSF works and earthworks quantities
-
Provide timely and accurate field data to the tailings, survey, and construction teams

Support field QA/QC activities with the consultant team for TSF construction, including survey verification of layers, lift thickness, elevations, slopes, and alignment

Assist in checking field conditions against approved construction drawings and design requirements

Work together with consultants, supervisors, and tailings engineers during field inspections, test locations, and verification works
-
Notify supervisors of any observed deviation from design, unsafe condition, or abnormal field condition

Provide support during inspections, audits, and consultant-led field verification activities.

Help maintain clear records of field coordinates, elevations, and reference benchmarks.

Assist in field activities related to TSF monitoring, including locating and checking instrumentation points, survey monuments, and monitoring stations

Support survey and field measurements for piezometers, settlement markers, survey monuments, and seepage monitoring locations where required

Ensure survey equipment, field tools, and assigned vehicles are maintained in safe and serviceable condition
The ideal candidate will have:

NATIN Diploma or equivalent secondary education qualification (VWO, HAVO, IMEAO).

At least 2 years of relevant experience preferable in mining industry.

Working knowledge of computer programs (ideally Excel, AutoCAD, Global Mapper)

Valid drivers’ license

Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break.

Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.

If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
