Located in the foothills of the Dandenong's, Glengollan Village is a non-denominational, not-for-profit organisation offering resident focused care. Spanning approximately 15 acres, Glengollan has 147 independent living units, as well as a 90 bed residential aged care facility. Our mission is to provide excellence in care, wellness, lifestyle and housing options in a supportive & connected, homelike community. The facility is close to Ferntree Gully and Boronia Railway Stations and has bus stops directly outside the property.
We are currently seeking a Permanent Part Time Food Service Assistant. We have between 20-30 hours per fortnight that are primarily afternoon shifts (3:30pm-7:30pm) available.
About the role
Reporting to the Chef Manager, the Food Service Assistant plays an important role in ensuring residents receive safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals in accordance with their individual dietary requirements and preferences. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other food items.

Setting up dining rooms, food service areas, equipment, and utensils in accordance with operational requirements.

Understanding and following residents’ dietary requirements, texture-modified diets, allergies, and special meal requests.

Serving meals and beverages to residents accurately and respectfully, ensuring the correct meals are delivered to the right residents.

Providing friendly and professional customer service while supporting a positive dining experience.

Maintaining food safety, infection control, and hygiene standards at all times.

Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, service areas, dining rooms, and workstations.

Assisting with dishwashing and general kitchen duties as required.

Communicating effectively with the Chef Manager, nursing staff, and team members regarding resident dietary needs and food service matters.

Following organisational policies, procedures, and aged care standards.
Key Requirements

Experience working as a kitchen hand or in a food service environment is preferred.

Hard-working, reliable, and punctual.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Good teamwork and communication skills.

Willingness to assist with food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, and general kitchen duties.

Food handling knowledge or relevant certification is an advantage.

Understanding of aged care food service and resident dietary requirements is highly desirable.

Ability to follow diet sheets, meal service instructions, and texture-modified diet requirements.

Strong attention to detail to ensure residents receive the correct meals.
