The Alumni & Philanthropy Office leads the University’s philanthropic strategy, delivering initiatives across major gifts, regular giving and philanthropic programs, along with strengthening alumni engagement in Australia and across the globe. At the heart of this work is strategic communication—crafting compelling narratives and engagement initiatives that build meaningful, lasting relationships with alumni and donors, and drive a strong culture of giving and impact.

Your New Role – Senior Communications Specialist!
The Senior Communications Specialist is a pivotal leadership role driving high-impact, contemporary communications that elevate alumni engagement and philanthropy at Murdoch University. As part of the Alumni & Philanthropy Leadership Team, you will lead the development of bold, insight-driven strategies—leveraging AI, digital platforms and data analytics—to deliver targeted, audience-centric campaigns.
Partnering closely with the Director, you will shape a sophisticated, data-led approach to storytelling and engagement, building a globally connected alumni and donor community. You will also lead the creation of strategic frameworks, campaigns and assets that strengthen donor relationships.

This Continuous, Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $134K – $140K (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:
- Qualifications & experience: Relevant postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) with extensive experience delivering strategic communication campaigns, ideally in higher education or the not-for-profit sector.

Strategic expertise: Proven ability to design and deliver insight-led, multi-channel campaigns—across digital, social and philanthropic initiatives—that drive measurable outcomes.

Stakeholder engagement: Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, with experience providing strategic advice and working with senior leaders, alumni, donors and diverse stakeholders.

Content & delivery: Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality content and campaigns while managing competing priorities with strong attention to detail.
