Occupational Therapist - Active Health Clinic
Changing roles is a big decision, and we know it can feel daunting. So rather than just telling you we're a good place to work, we'd like to show you how we actually support our team.
Active Health Clinic is an award-winning allied health practice supporting people living with complex, often invisible conditions, including ME/CFS, long COVID, POTS, Ehlers-Danlos and fibromyalgia. Many of our clients have felt unheard for a long time. We listen, we believe them, and we help them understand and manage their symptoms over time. Our tagline says it best: making invisible illness visible.
We're hiring more than one Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team of around 12 clinicians and 8 admin staff, with regular professional development and round-table case discussions.
We've built this practice so our team can do good work, sustainably
Supporting people with complex conditions is meaningful work, and it can be demanding. So we've put real structures in place, not posters on a wall:
- A dedicated wellbeing role, focused on looking after our team
- Real-time support, so there's always a senior clinician you can reach when a session is tough
- Fortnightly check-ins and quarterly reviews, so you always know where you stand
- Peer, leadership, social and HR support, plus internal and external clinical supervision
We'd rather invest in people and keep them than constantly recruit. From your first day, we'll ask what you want from your career and the professional development that interests you, then help you get there.
What you'd do
- Support clients to pace their energy, manage flares and build capacity for the things that matter to them, like work, study and family life
- Complete functional assessments and activity analysis, and recommend equipment and adjustments
- Write clear, funding-ready plans and reports (NDIS, Medicare care plans, private health, WorkCover and TAC)
- Help create resources and shape how we deliver occupational therapy, not just see clients and write reports
Your skills may already transfer
You don't need direct experience with these conditions to be great in this role. If your background is in ASD and neurodiversity, mental health, MS, neuro or chronic disease, a lot of your skills carry across directly. New graduates and people changing focus are genuinely welcome. We hire for the right person first, then support you to build the clinical skills.
What we're looking for
- An AHPRA-registered occupational therapist, or someone eligible for registration, including new graduates
- Someone who cares about complex, often misunderstood conditions and finds the work meaningful
- A warm, clear communicator who's easy to talk to
- Organised, and comfortable with notes, systems and the occasional phone call
- A team player who wants to advocate for people who've often been overlooked
