Purpose of role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in improving the quality of life and independence of individuals with disabilities.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily personal hygiene routines, including showering, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide support with toileting and incontinence management.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment while respecting each individual's dignity and privacy.
- Plan and accompany individuals to access community resources, events, and activities.
- Foster social inclusion and community participation by promoting interactions and engagement.
- Adapt to the unique needs and preferences of each individual to ensure a fulfilling community experience.
- Safely assist individuals with mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Regularly assess the mobility needs of each individual and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop appropriate care plans.
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and dosage instructions, adhering to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate medication records and report any concerns or issues to the designated healthcare professionals.
- Assist individuals in safely using wheelchairs, including transfers to and from the wheelchair.
- Ensure wheelchairs are maintained in good working order and report any repair needs promptly.

- Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required by ndis participants
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent, NDIS Screening Check, first aid, CPR
Experience
- 1 year of aged/disability experience or related field or willing to learn
Knowledge
- Driving is must, computer basics, meal preparation and general cleaning
