POSITION BRIEF
The Head of Design is responsible for leading the design & development across the product range, focused on micro-mobility including road bikes, e-bikes, and scooters, utilising lightweight metal alloys and advanced composite structures. With a strong emphasis on innovation, functionality, manufacturability, and brand alignment, this role is required to drive the end-to-end product design and development process from concept generation through to production release.
KEY DUTIES
§ Determine design objectives, product requirements, and project constraints to establish comprehensive design briefs aligned with brand and product strategies.
§ Conduct product research and analyse functional, commercial, ergonomic, manufacturing and aesthetic requirements relevant to regulatory, industrial and consumer products within the micro-mobility sector.
Develop and formulate industrial and consumer product design concepts, including hand sketches, digital sketches, CAD models, renderings, and visual presentations
§ Work closely with engineering teams, manufacturers, suppliers, and management to refine and negotiate design solutions that satisfy technical feasibility, manufacturing capability, cost targets, and production requirements.
§ Select, specify, and recommend suitable materials, finishes, manufacturing methods, and production processes while applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout product development.
§ Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production documentation required for manufacturing and product release.
§ Prepare, coordinate, and evaluate prototypes, samples, tooling trials, and first-off production components to ensure compliance with design intent, quality expectations, and production standards.
§ Lead and contribute to design reviews, innovation initiatives, and continuous product improvement activities across the product development lifecycle.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications: Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or highly related discipline
Experience: 10+ years’ experience in industrial/product design

Software & Technical - Professional proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and CATIA for 3D modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and KeyShot
Leadership Capability - strategic mindset, collaborative, team oriented, high level organisational and administrative competence
Pay: $135,000.00 – $145,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
