About the Opportunity
Due to rapid business growth, we are currently expanding our Finance Team and are looking for an additional experienced Financial Accountant to join our journey.
The Financial Accountant is a key role responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial information, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the organisation's financial integrity and supporting strategic financial decision-making.
This is a full-time onsite role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The following outlines the core responsibilities of the Financial Accountant, to be carried out independently or as part of broader team functions:
Financial Reporting & Ledger Management
Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and process efficient month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.
Assist in the preparation of core financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Compliance & Regulation
Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including the preparation and lodgement of GST, BAS, and payroll tax.
Assist with external audits and contribute to the smooth execution of the annual audit process.
Adhere to internal financial controls and recommend improvements to minimize risk.
Analysis & Business Support
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with data analysis and financial insights.
Analyse variances between actual financial results and budget/forecasts, providing clear commentary.
Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and operational managers.
Operations & Systems
Support transactional finance functions, including payroll processing, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR) where required.
Assist in maintaining and optimizing financial systems and reporting tools.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance-related processes and procedures to drive efficiency.
Adhere to all company Policies and Procedures, as well as Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must bring a solid foundation in commercial accounting alongside specific sector expertise. We are looking for:
Aged Care Industry Experience (Required): Proven, hands-on experience working within the Aged Care sector is essential. You must possess a strong, working familiarity with Aged Care financial regulations, funding models, and compliance standards.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of general ledger management, month-end processes, statutory reporting (GST, BAS, payroll tax), and variance analysis. Proficiency in modern ERP systems (NetSuite, Xero, Sage) is highly desirable.
Attributes: High attention to detail, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a growing team.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and operational managers.
