About the Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to clients with complex medical conditions and significant physical disabilities, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care, safety, dignity, and quality of life.
Essential Selection Criteria
Applicants must possess:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience providing nursing care to clients with complex or high-needs disability support needs.
- Demonstrated experience caring for individuals with quadriplegia, including comprehensive nursing and personal care for clients with limited or no independent mobility.
- Experience supporting clients living with:
- Quadriplegia
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down Syndrome
- Epilepsy
- Proven clinical competency in:
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Ventilator management
- PEG feeding and enteral nutrition
- Epilepsy and seizure management
- Medication administration
- Comprehensive personal care, including manual handling, repositioning, pressure injury prevention, bowel and bladder care, personal hygiene, and activities of daily living
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of English proficiency.
- The ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, support staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- A genuine commitment to providing safe, respectful, compassionate, and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality nursing care to individuals with complex disabilities and high clinical support needs.
- Providing specialised clinical interventions, including tracheostomy care, ventilator management, PEG feeding, seizure management, and medication administration.
- Assisting clients with all aspects of personal care while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
- Performing safe manual handling, transfers, repositioning, pressure care, and mobility support in accordance with clinical best practice.
- Monitoring clients' health status, identifying changes in condition, and responding appropriately to clinical concerns and emergencies.
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and organisational policies.
- Working collaboratively with families, support workers, allied health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Complying with all relevant legislative, regulatory, and professional nursing standards.
