Ri Engineering is a leading provider of custom engineering, metal fabrication, and site services in South Australia. We work across mining, industrial, and commercial sectors, delivering high-quality workmanship from our Whyalla-based facility and onsite.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Boilermaker (Metal Fabricator) to join our team in a full-time capacity.
About the Role
In this hands-on and leadership-blended role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures using a range of welding and cutting methods. You’ll work on a variety of workshop and site-based projects and support the supervision of junior team members to maintain a high standard of quality and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Interpret and fabricate from technical workshop drawings
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using presses, shears, drills, bandsaws, and plasma cutters
- Perform welding using Stick, MIG, and TIG (including 6G) techniques
- Inspect finished products to ensure conformance to specifications
- Identify substandard work and manage corrections
- Guide and mentor junior boilermakers and apprentices
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and estimators
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
- Report and escalate quality or workflow issues when required
What You’ll Bring
- AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or
- AQF Certificate IV, or
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in metal fabrication and welding
- Qualification in 6G welding procedures
- Strong proficiency in interpreting fabrication drawings and specifications
- Skilled use of welding and fabrication tools and workshop machinery
- Excellent teamwork, reliability, and communication skills
- Ability to mentor others and maintain productivity standards
Licences and Certifications
- Current driver’s licence (mandatory)
- Forklift ticket (preferred)
- Confined space or high-risk work certifications (advantageous)
Working Conditions
- Physically active role: lifting, bending, standing, tool use
- Work in workshop and outdoor environments, including heat, dust, and noise
- Must adhere to WHS procedures and wear PPE at all times
