Primary objective
To provide high quality front line administration support services which is patient care focussed.
Context statement
This role involves working on shift worker roster which may include a combination of mornings, evenings, weekends and
public holidays.
Key duties and responsibilities
• To provide effective and efficient unit reception and clerical services responsive to the needs of the public, patients and multi-
disciplinary teams.
- Operate multiple computer systems, ensuring accuracy of sensitive information related to patient activities.
- Maintain patient records in the established sequence according to Medical Records Standards (AS2828)
- Generate and raise requisition requests for consumables items on contract, non-contract and inventory stock.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Assist patients or next of kin to complete the relevant patient election forms support of accurate funding claims.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to embark on a shift work rotating roster which includes afternoons, weekends and Publics holidays.
2. Demonstrated experience within a complex work environment with a strong focus on excellence in patient care.
3. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision and to use initiative and problem solving skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality / privacy and handle sensitive information with discretion.
5. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary groups including all levels.
6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise your own workload and meet deadlines.
7. Demonstrated ability to navigate multiple computer systems, software packages including the Microsoft package.
8. Demonstrated high level of written, oral communication and negotiation skills.
9. Ability to comply with infection control procedures and occupational health & safety requirements.
Desirable
1. Three year experience in a reception or clerical role.
2. Certificate III in Business administration or similar
