The role itself involves:
- Pick up small groups (4–7 kids) and shuttle them to the beach.
- Read the ocean conditions and choose safe, fun surf spots.
- Run inclusive, relaxed group surf sessions in the mornings before school (6:30am-8:30am), and afternoons post-school (3-6).
- Provide 1:1 ocean-based mentorship for adults with autism or mental health challenges during the day.
- Support a community you already value, and encourage the next generation of surfers, inclusion, and access to the ocean!
You’d be a great fit if you:
- Are confident in the surf and tuned in to ocean safety.
- Have experience working with kids, people with disabilities, or in mentorship roles.
- Are a natural leader, reliable, kind, and communicative — a team player with a calm presence.
- Have a full driver’s license, clean record, and your own vehicle.
Bonus points for:
- Surf instructor accreditation.
- Local knowledge of Northern Beaches or Lower North Shore.
- Owning a 5–8 seater vehicle.
Requirements:
- 1+ year experience working with children or people with disabilities.
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to get one).
- First Aid certification (or willingness to get one).
- Afternoon availability for at least 2-3 days in a week.
