The role
The Senior Oracle Database Administrator role is based in Sydney and operates as a dedicated embedded resource supporting Client’s Oracle environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day database operations and working independently to identify and resolve issues. Beyond this, the role will also contribute to building Brennan’s in-house Oracle support capability.
You will be the trusted Oracle expert both for the dedicated customer account and across Brennan’s broader Oracle capability.
Your key responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day operational support and administration of the customer’s Oracle database estate, resolving incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Proactively monitor database health, capacity and performance to identify and resolve issues before they impact the customer.
- Administer and support Oracle Exadata environments, including patching, health checks and performance tuning.
- Manage and support Oracle databases hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle on Azure, including provisioning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning and root-cause analysis across production and non-production environments.
- Manage database backup and recovery, patching, upgrades and security hardening.
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in change, incident and problem management processes, and drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Brennan’s in-house Oracle support capability.
Key skills and experience required:
- 10+ years’ hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience running and supporting Oracle databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Experience running Oracle databases on Azure (Oracle Database@Azure or Oracle on Azure VMs).
- Strong background in performance tuning, capacity planning and
troubleshooting complex database issues.
- Solid experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN backup and recovery.
- Proven ability to work independently as a dedicated resource for a customer with strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Experience working within ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change
management processes.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certification.
