About the role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Legal Assistant to join our Medical Negligence team in Adelaide on a permanent full-time basis.
This is an opportunity to support lawyers working on complex and meaningful medical negligence matters, helping clients and their families navigate what can often be some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Working within a collaborative and high-performing team, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional client service and supporting the successful progression of claims.

Key responsibilities

Provide high-quality administrative and legal support to lawyers within the Medical Negligence team.

Manage client files from opening through to closure, ensuring accurate and timely file management.

Answer client enquiries and provide updates in a professional, empathetic and timely manner.

Liaise with clients, medical practitioners, hospitals, experts, barristers, courts and other stakeholders.

Prepare, draft and format legal and client correspondence and documentation.

Coordinate appointments, meetings, medico-legal assessments and diary management.

Obtain and organise medical records, reports and other evidentiary material.

Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and mail.

Assist with billing, file administration and matter-related reporting requirements.

Provide general administrative support to the broader team as required.
The experience we are looking for
-
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or Paralegal, ideally within personal injury litigation, medical negligence, litigation or a similar legal environment.

Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

A compassionate and client-focused approach, with the ability to engage sensitively with clients experiencing difficult circumstances.

High attention to detail and strong administrative capabilities.

Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.

Confidence working in a fast-paced setting and meeting deadlines.

Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.

Sound judgement and the ability to appropriately escalate issues when required.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management systems.
