The Role
The Grants and Project Officer plays a key role in fostering community capacity and engagement across the Georges River area. Working within the Community Capacity Building team, you will coordinate and support the delivery of Council's grant programs, develop initiatives that respond to community needs, and contribute to projects that strengthen community connection, participation and resilience.
Working closely with community groups, stakeholders and internal teams, you will help ensure Council's grant programs and community projects deliver meaningful outcomes and align with Council's strategic objectives.
Key focus areas:
- Coordinate the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of Council's grant programs, including Community Grants and Venue Hire Grants.
- Provide specialist advice and support to community organisations to maximise access to grant funding opportunities.
- Monitor funded projects, including evaluation and financial acquittal processes, to ensure successful outcomes and accountability.
- Plan and deliver community capacity-building workshops, events and information sessions.
- Develop and implement community projects that respond to identified needs and priorities within the Georges River community.
- Prepare reports, presentations and recommendations for management, Executive Team and Council as required.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community organisations, stakeholders, networks and interagency groups to support collaborative outcomes.
About You
We're seeking a community-focused professional who is passionate about building strong, resilient communities and delivering initiatives that create meaningful local impact.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Qualifications in Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Project Management or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of community capacity building principles and practices.
- Experience coordinating or administering grant programs, including developing policies, guidelines and assessment processes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate projects and programs effectively.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and collaborating with community groups, stakeholders and partner organisations.
- Excellent research, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and present information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, budgets and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
What We Offer

- Temporary full time - 70 hours per fortnight, up to August 2027.
- Salary from $101,204.99 to 117,260.87 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
