Ventia has been awarded the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC) by Transport for Victoria, delivering essential maintenance and operational services across Victoria's road network.
We're seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to partner with operational teams and leaders across our Road Maintenance operations. This is an opportunity to play a key role in influencing safe behaviours, supporting frontline teams, and driving continuous improvement across critical infrastructure works that keep Victorian communities connected.

About the Role
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you'll provide expert safety advice, guidance and support to operational teams delivering road maintenance and construction activities.
Working closely with leaders and frontline employees, you'll help embed a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with safety requirements, and identify opportunities to continuously improve safety performance.
This is a hands-on role that combines field engagement, coaching, risk management, auditing and reporting.
Key Responsibilities

Partner with operational teams to promote safe work practices and positive safety behaviours

Provide practical health and safety advice across maintenance and construction activities

Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations

Identify hazards, risks and opportunities for improvement

Support the implementation of Ventia's SHEQ systems, programs and procedures

Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions

Deliver safety communications, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives

Monitor compliance with legislative, contractual and company requirements

Analyse trends and provide meaningful safety performance reporting

Contribute to a culture where safety remains a core value and operational priority
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, Safety Coordinator or SHEQ position

Experience working within civil construction, infrastructure, roads, transport, utilities or a similar environment

Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management practices

Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations

The ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels

Strong communication, coaching and relationship-building skills
-
A proactive approach to identifying and solving safety challenges

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent (desirable)
