The Opportunity
As Head of Product, you'll be the strategic visionary driving the future of aXcelerate's SaaS products. You'll own our product strategy and vision end-to-end — identifying new market opportunities across the VET, RTO, and Enterprise sectors to drive product-led growth, and ensuring our product ambition and technical feasibility are tightly integrated with Engineering.
You'll bring contemporary, outcome-driven product management practices into the business, championing continuous product discovery, deep customer empathy, and data-informed decision-making.
You'll also lead, mentor, and empower a team of Product Managers, shifting the culture from feature delivery to solving real customer problems and achieving measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the Product Department, aligning it with company objectives and the broader Engineering and Technology roadmap
- Report directly to the CTO, contributing to executive-level discussions and representing Product in cross-functional leadership forums
- Develop and execute the Product Department's strategic plan, tightly integrated with Engineering's technical strategy
- Set, track, and be accountable for departmental OKRs, with regular reporting to the CTO and contributions to board-level updates
- Own the Product Department budget, including forecasting and financial accountability
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, including direct reports and any Managers or Team Leaders
- Champion continuous product discovery across all product squads, ensuring teams constantly engage with customers to test assumptions and validate solutions
- Transition the organisation toward outcome-based roadmapping (e.g. Now/Next/Later), focusing on the problems we're solving rather than output-driven timelines
- Empower product squads with clear strategic context, business objectives, and success metrics — enabling autonomous solution discovery
- Establish a robust product analytics framework to measure adoption, drive iteration, and inform product strategy
- Be a genuine expert in customer needs, anticipating future opportunities and driving product value across use cases
- Stay ahead of industry, competitor, and Edtech/SaaS trends, translating them into sustainable competitive strategy
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from conception through development to launch and post-launch analysis
About You

Proven experience in a EdTech and/or SaaS environments
- A proven track record implementing contemporary product management frameworks (e.g. Continuous Discovery, Product-Led Growth)
- A proven ability to shift teams from output-driven delivery to real outcomes — with a track record of moving metrics like user adoption and churn, not just shipping features
- Experience building validated, growth-driving strategy grounded in product analytics and deep customer understanding — the kind that puts you ahead of the market, not chasing it
- Deep expertise in modern product strategy — Product Vision, Strategy, and outcome-based OKRs
- Extensive commercial experience in senior product leadership roles within a SaaS business (e.g. Head of Product, Group Product Manager)
- A track record leading multiple product teams and driving outcomes at a company-wide level
- Empowering Product Managers to move to genuine problem-solving — ideally with exposure to agentic development practices
- The ability to operate as a strategic equal with Engineering leadership — owning the 'what and why', while Engineering owns the 'how'
- Credibility as a pragmatic partner to engineering leadership — able to balance product innovation against the technical debt of a growing platform
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively at executive level
- Experience with cloud-based software applications
