Looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist (Part-Time)
Location: Elizabeth Vale, South Australia
Employment Type: Part-Time (0.5 FTE)
Hours: commencing only on Thursdays from 1-5pm with possible extra hours on Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm to follow plus participation in the medical on-call roster.
This innovative 16-bed service provides a voluntary, short-stay alternative to the Emergency Department for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal distress. The Centre offers a collaborative, recovery-focused environment where you'll play a key leadership role within a multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
As the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, clinical leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic formulation
- Medication review and prescribing
- Clinical leadership and support for the multidisciplinary team
- Comprehensive mental health and risk assessments
- Treatment planning and discharge planning
- Clinical supervision and mentoring of the Psychiatry Registrar
- Participation in the medical on-call roster
To be successful you will have:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or equivalent
- Current Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Demonstrated experience working within adult mental health services
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Current or eligible Working with Children Check
- Current or eligible National Police Check
- Professional Indemnity Insurance
