Canterbury College is one of Queensland's leading Anglican ELC-12 schools, located in the rapidly growing corridor spanning Logan, the northern Gold Coast and southern Brisbane. We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Economics to join our Senior School from the commencement of the 2027 academic year. This is a permanent, full-time appointment created by sustained enrolment growth across our senior cohorts, and it reflects the genuine momentum the subject enjoys at Canterbury. Typically up to 30% of our senior students choose Economics, a level of uptake that places it among our most popular and academically respected offerings.

The successful applicant will teach Economics across Years 10 to 12, together with English, Commerce or Humanities across Years 7 to 9, joining an established and high-performing team that already carries strong student numbers. You will work within a Senior School known for its collegiality, its commitment to evidence-based pedagogy, and its expectation that every student is challenged to think well rather than simply to perform. Our academic culture is serious about results, but it is built on something deeper than results alone. In 2025, 54% of our Year 12 cohort achieved an ATAR of 90 or higher, and our Year 9 NAPLAN performance placed Canterbury among the top coeducational independent schools in Queensland and the highest-performing school in Logan. Within Economics, around 95% of students typically attain an A or B result. We are looking for a teacher who wants to build on results of that calibre rather than simply maintain them.

Salary Range is between $96,090.00 (Step One) to $133,782.00 (Step 9).

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Education together with tertiary qualifications in Economics or a closely related field

Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or eligibility to obtain it
