About the Role
As our Accounts Officer, you will be responsible for managing the practice's day-to-day financial administration and bookkeeping functions. You will work closely with the Practice Manager and administrative team to ensure accurate financial records, timely processing of accounts, and excellent support for both staff and patients.
This role also includes providing assistance to our reception team during busy periods, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and working collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing daily financial data entry and bookkeeping activities.
- Generating and processing invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Reconciling Tyro EFTPOS transactions on a daily basis.
- Completing daily banking, cash handling and mail processing.
- Receipting remittances for daily invoices, including industrial medical accounts.
- Preparing and issuing monthly customer statements.
- Monitoring outstanding accounts and following up overdue debtors professionally.
- Processing online Medicare claims.
- Managing and monitoring the practice's online booking and payment systems.
- Assisting the reception team with incoming phone calls, appointment bookings and patient billing when required.
- Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with practice policies and financial procedures.
- Supporting the Practice Manager with other administrative and financial tasks as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar finance administration role.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Experience with accounts receivable, invoicing and debtor management.
- Confidence using accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional, friendly and team-focused approach.
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial and patient information.
- Previous experience in a medical practice or healthcare environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
