Role Description:
The Procurement and Subcontract Manager is responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.
Working closely with the Operations team and our onsite supplier, the role will ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed, supplier performance is optimised, and commercial outcomes are achieved across long-term operational programs.
Core Duties:
- Responsible for managing contracts of high complexity, high risk and high change.
- Contribute to the development and management of appropriate contract, cost control and performance measures within the contract
- Support[AW1] the development of robust supplier sourcing strategies and lead the supplier evaluation process for the business as appropriate.
- Lead the supply chain elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and supplier contractual terms in line with customer requirements when required.
- Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, working closely with Operations and key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach.
- Lead supplier negotiations and finalise Supplier Agreements in accordance with set Delegations of Authority.
- Manage commercial and contractual relationships with key suppliers, ensuring contractual obligations, performance measures and service levels are achieved.
- Assess impact, manage and implement contract change
- Monitor and manage supplier’s performance against programme milestones including development/establishment of recovery plans and resolution of non-conformances with supplier deliverables.
- Coordinate subcontractor interfaces across multiple disciplines and to ensure efficient execution and minimise disruption to delivery activities
- Identify and manage supplier risks and opportunities, including those of the suppliers’ supply chains.
- Support the implementation of learning from experience practices within the team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance, value delivery and operational outcomes.
Essential Skills:
- Degree-qualified in a relevant field (engineering, commercial, business, supply chain or related disciplines preferred).
- Proven operational experience managing long-term contracts within defence, construction, engineering or similarly complex environments.
- Strong contract management experience, including administration, performance management, dispute resolution and contractual compliance.
- Demonstrated procurement and supply chain experience within defence, construction, engineering or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance operational requirements with commercial outcomes.
- Adept at building and sustaining high-level relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, operations teams and customers.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a high-performance culture within procurement and technical teams.
