About Lavarack Health Centre
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment. The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members. It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday
What you’ll do

Cover planned an unplanned leave
-
Provide comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment

Prescribe medications and administer vaccinations

Order and interpret diagnostic investigations

Respond to emergency medical situations when required

Refer patients to specialists and other healthcare providers
-
Work in line with AHPRA standards, Defence policies, and clinical governance frameworks
What you bring
-
Unrestricted registration as a Nurse Practitioner with AHPRA
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner in acute care, primary health, or military settings
-
Current CPR (HLTAID009) certification
-
Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
-
A patient-centred, ethical approach to care
-
Australian Citizenship -required for Baseline Security Clearance
