Purpose
The Senior Financial Accountant (SFA) is responsible for leading the financial control activities of the business, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in line with both local statutory requirements and the expectations of a NYSE-listed parent company.
While the Head of Finance retains overall ownership, this role acts as the operational lead for core finance processes.
The SFA will drive month-end close, balance sheet integrity, compliance (including SOX), and audit readiness, while proactively identifying issues and implementing process improvements.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical capability, ownership mindset, and ability to manage priorities across the monthly reporting cycle.
What you'll do
- Lead month-end close process including journals, accruals, and reporting
- Own balance sheet reconciliation process and integrity
- Manage HFM uploads, validation, and group reporting
- Support and lead SOX compliance and control execution
- Manage tax compliance obligations (GST, BAS, payroll tax)
- Lead external and internal audits
- Oversee payroll accuracy and compliance
- Ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment
- Manage Assistant Accountant and team priorities
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Provide coaching and oversight to Assistant Accountant
- Identify process improvements and implement solutions
- Drive efficiencies, automation, and standardisation
What you’ll bring with you
Experience
- CPA/CA qualification
- Strong accounting knowledge (IFRS/GAAP)
- 5–8+ years relevant experience
- Experience in multinational or listed environments preferred
- Exposure to HFM and SOX frameworks
- Strong leadership, ownership, and problem-solving capability
