We are seeking a skilled and values-driven community engagement professional to join our Social Inclusion Team in a 0.4 FTE job-share role, with a strong focus on the direct delivery and coordination of the Social Inclusion Action Groups (SIAGs) in Brimbank.
The role
This role is responsible for leading the day-to-day facilitation and coordination of SIAG meetings and activities, supporting strong member participation, and building trusted relationships with community members and stakeholders. The role works closely across community, Council, and health partners to support community-led priorities, collaborative action and inclusive participation.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in group facilitation, community development, stakeholder engagement and inclusive practice, and who is passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive spaces where diverse community voices are heard and valued.
- Facilitate group meetings and activities in ways that are inclusive, welcoming, and productive
- Build safe, culturally responsive, and accessible spaces that support strong community participation
- Recruit, orient, train, and support group members
- Strengthen community participation and maintain member engagement over time
- Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across community, Council, and health sectors
- Support co-design processes and community-led planning and action
- Embed principles of cultural safety, equity, diversity, inclusion, and self-determination in all aspects of the work
- Coordinate implementation of initiatives, actions and funding decisions arising from group processes
- Manage meeting logistics, agendas, minutes, action tracking and follow-up to ensure continuity and momentum
- Work effectively within a part-time, job-share arrangement and maintain strong communication and handover processes
To be considered you will have
- Experience working in local government
- Experience in health promotion, social inclusion, wellbeing, or community capacity building
- Experience supporting community-led funding, grants, or investment decision-making
- Experience in volunteer coordination or leadership development
- Experience applying trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
