What this opportunity involves:
We are seeking a Head of Procurement - Australia to lead our strategic procurement function. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to shape sourcing strategies, drive operational excellence, and deliver measurable value to our clients through innovative procurement solutions.
Reporting directly to the APAC Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic approaches to account sourcing, client relationship management, and supplier compliance and performance.
This role is based in either Melbourne or Sydney CBD, with regular office attendance required to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Lead initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, maintain quality standards, and achieve cost reductions
Identify and evaluate market trends and opportunities to inform procurement strategies
Establish and communicate the Sourcing & Procurement vision to clients, stakeholders, vendors, and strategic alliance partners
Client & Stakeholder Management
Provide expert advisory services on procurement category strategy and innovative practices
Develop strong stakeholder and client engagement to align sourcing strategies with business needs
Serve as the primary contact for procurement-related questions, training, and policy interpretation
Operational Excellence
Oversee contract development, administration, and critical negotiations
Manage procurement policies, procedures, and programs focused on organizational value
Conduct business impact analysis to identify and mitigate supply chain risks
Report on procurement activity, results, client satisfaction, and cost performance
Team Development
Develop and communicate team performance and development plans
Lead by example with strong influencing and mentoring capabilities
Key Skills & Requirements
Business or Commerce degree with at least 10 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, and negotiation
Relevant management experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, and engineering will be highly regarded
Demonstrated experience managing outsourcing relationships and vendor management with strong contract management and negotiation skills
Competency in financial modeling, feasibility studies, and total cost of ownership analysis
Ability to analyse complex problems and generate innovative solutions
Exceptional relationship and conflict management capabilities with proven ability to lead by example
Excellent time and project management skills with proven experience managing procurement activities across multiple clients simultaneously
Excellent communication skills and business acumen with the ability to manage projects in dynamic, evolving environments
