The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) will facilitate and provide nursing leadership, support, clinical supervision and mentoring within the nursing team and provide nursing resource, education and research accountabilities and strategic management to facilitate the delivery of high quality, best practice care to clients of the ED Short Term Treatment Area.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a temporary full-time, 28/06/2026 - 27/12/2026, with a possibility of an additional 12 months extension.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
Provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within an Emergency Department environment.
Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
Integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.
Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.
High level of communication skills required for problem solving and decision making.
Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
Ongoing professional development of self and others.
Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.

Salary range: $5364.30 to $5824.20 p.f. (NG7)

Requirements:
Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
