What you'll be doing
We are seeking a dedicated, reliable and enthusiastic registrar to support the delivery of education and teaching activities to Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) within the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) BPT Network. The primary function of this position is to work with the RPA Clinical Superintendent of Medicine to help co-ordinate and support teaching and training of doctors-in-training, particularly Basic Physician Trainees.
There are also opportunities to attend ambulatory clinics and department meetings of the trainee’s specialty of interest, participate in research projects, engage in medical student teaching and undertake further studies. Previous Medical Education Trainees has been successful in applying to the RACP to accredit the year an as elective year for their Advanced Training.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting the co-ordination and delivery of teaching/education, mentoring, courses and curriculum development for BPTs and JMOs in collaboration with the RPA Clinical Superintendent of Medicine and Director of Prevocational Training.
Assisting the organising of the RPA BPT Clinical Trial Examination and RACP Divisional Clinical Examination hosted by RPA in collaboration with the RPA Clinical Superintendent of Medicine.
Providing pastoral care and support for BPTs in their role as medical registrars and preparing for RACP examinations.
Assisting in the delivery of junior doctor welfare programs such as MDOK.
Participation in quality improvement activities including hospital committees and audits.
Supervision and support of the Associate Education Assistant and Associate Education Coordinator positions whom are involved in the RPA BPT Network teaching program and onboarding of incoming BPTs into the RPA BPT Network.
Providing effective medical care to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment. There will be an opportunity for the Medical Education Trainee to engage with the department of their specialty of interest to gain clinical and research exposure.
Providing rostered ADO or sick relief cover for basic physician trainees and / or advanced trainees where appropriate
