THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Project Support Officer (PSO) at the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, you will provide high-level administrative, financial, and operational support to ensure the successful delivery of the Agency’s programs and projects. We are looking for delivery-focused professionals capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure within a complex, highly regulated government environment.
As a ACIC PSO, you will operate across critical agency sectors, including Intelligence Operations, Intelligence and Information Systems, the National Police Checking Service, and Corporate and Enabling Services.
A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.
Role responsibilities
As an APS5 Project Support Officer, you will:
- Project Administration: Coordinate project lifecycle activities, maintaining schedules, tracking budgets, and drafting and maintaining quality and version control of critical project artefacts.

Governance & Secretarial Support: Deliver comprehensive secretariat duties for program/project governance committees, including preparing agendas, minutes, and tracking action items

Task Prioritisation: Manage competing priorities and deliver delegated tasks across multiple concurrent projects under the guidance of Project Managers.

Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a central point of contact for diverse stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and build collaborative working relationships.

Change and Risk Tracking: Identify, document, and manage project changes and risks in accordance with established agency governance frameworks and EPMO standards.

Methodology Application: Utilise and adapt across various delivery frameworks (including Agile, Prince2, MSP, and Hybrid models) to support diverse project teams.

Qualifications & Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Professional Certifications in Agile/Scrum, PRINCE2, or PMBOK frameworks.

Prior experience supporting projects within an Intelligence, Law Enforcement, or highly secured information systems environment is highly beneficial.
As an APS6 Senior Project Support Officer, you will:
- Project Management & Oversight: Lead project lifecycle activities, managing schedules, overseeing budgets, and approving critical project artefacts for high-level clearance.

Strategic Governance: Manage secretariat functions for complex governance committees, advising chairs on agenda formulation, strategic risks, and action implementation.

Independent Delivery: Prioritise and deliver complex tasks across multiple projects, exercising high-level autonomy and independent judgment with minimal supervision.

Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Negotiate and influence diverse, high-level stakeholders to resolve complex issues and build long-term collaborative partnerships.

Risk & Change Management: Anticipate, analyse, and mitigate project risks and changes, designing mitigation strategies within agency frameworks.

Methodology Leadership: Champion and mature project delivery frameworks (Agile, Prince2, MSP, Hybrid), mentoring junior staff in execution.

APS6 Senior Project Support Officer:
- Experience working as a Senior Project Support Officer, within a small-to-medium-sized Federal Government agency.

Extensive experience in project support or coordination roles, with a proven track record of driving project delivery within a Federal Government agency.

Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, oversee complex budgets, and lead professional Secretariat support for executive-level governance committees.
- Advanced skill in managing actual vs. forecast expenditure, overseeing purchase orders, and analysing and resolving program/project budget variations.
- Proven adaptability across multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile, Prince2, MSP, and Hybrid frameworks, with the ability to guide project teams on framework alignment.

High-level communication and negotiation skills with the capability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, resolve ambiguity, and deliver under pressure.
