Our client is a growing, purpose-led organisation providing specialist solutions across the infrastructure and construction sectors. Working with a diverse client base across Australia, they provide environmentally friendly solutions for roads, buildings and paths. With a head office located in the Melbourne CBD, the organisation employs approximately 80–100 staff across a range of teams and subsidiary companies. As the business continues to expand, they are investing in a strong finance function to support ongoing growth, commercial decision-making and operational performance.
Reporting to senior leadership, including the CFO and CEO, you will play a key role in strengthening the finance function and supporting the business through its next stage of growth.
What you’ll do
- Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital and variance analysis
- Prepare banking reports and covenant certificates, monitor covenant headroom and support lender relationships
- Coordinate tax compliance across income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax documentation.
- Coordinate the annual R&D tax incentive claim with external consultants
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements in line with AASB/IFRS, supporting year-end audit processes and technical accounting matters.
- Manage statutory compliance, governance processes and reporting requirements
- Build and maintain financial models and reporting tools, identifying opportunities to improve automation, reporting efficiency and finance system processes.
About you
The role will suit someone who enjoys bringing structure, accuracy and discipline to a finance function, while also being confident working across both technical accounting and commercial analysis. You will be comfortable building financial models in Excel, interpreting accounting standards, preparing reports and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.
You must have
- CA or CPA Qualification completed, supported by 3–6 years’ experience post qualification.
- A background in preparing cash flow forecasts and supporting treasury activities.
- Strong technical accounting capability, including practical exposure to AASB and IFRS requirements.
- Experience liaising with internal and external tax specialists whilst overseeing compliance matters across income tax, GST and FBT.
- Highly developed Excel capability, including the ability to build models, analyse scenarios, work with large data sets
- Previous experience working with ERP platforms, with NetSuite experience highly regarded.
