About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Motor Mechanic to join our workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end maintenance, testing, and repair of a diverse range of vehicles. You will focus primarily on petrol engines and core mechanical systems including transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems. Your goal is to provide high-quality workmanship while ensuring every vehicle leaves our shop in peak condition.
Key Accountabilities
- Diagnostics: Detect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using advanced diagnostic tools and computer-assisted systems.
- Assembly & Repair: Dismantle, remove, and reassemble engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and differentials.
- Component Replacement: Repair or replace worn and defective parts; perform full engine and transmission swaps when necessary.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre rotations, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations.
- Testing & Quality Control: Test and adjust mechanical components post-repair to verify performance and ensure precision fitting.
- Workshop Services: Perform tyre fitting and balancing services as required.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts utilized, and time logged per job.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients regarding repair requirements and provide transparent, professional advice.
- Compliance: Ensure all workshop activities adhere to strict safety standards, manufacturer procedures, and environmental regulations.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a qualified tradesperson with a formal qualification in automotive mechanical technology, specifically an AQF Certificate III or IV.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Technical Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of light vehicle systems (engines, transmissions, and electrical).
- Experience: A minimum of 3-years experience in a fast-paced workshop environment is highly preferred.
- Diagnostic Proficiency: Strong problem-solving skills and experience using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Specialized Skills: Experience with tyre fitting and balancing is a plus.
- Teamwork: The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Precision: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to "doing it right the first time."
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
