The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) practices with an advanced level of autonomy to provide nursing services within the rural/remote health service setting.
The NUM is a senior level clinician and manager, accountable at an advanced level in the leading, directing and coordination of nursing and associated services within the clinical unit, providing the highest level of care to patients, while meeting national and professional standards.
The NUM participates in the shared Clinical On Call roster.

Mitchell is a designated Remote Area Nursing Incentive Package (RANIP) site in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015. This attracts additional entitlements which may include:
An annual isolation bonus paid annually!
