Build the workforce behind a growing trades business
HPG Solutions is an Aboriginal-owned plumbing and maintenance contractor delivering commercial plumbing, infrastructure, government, rail, Defence, construction and maintenance services across NSW.
As our business continues to grow and secure new opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Recruitment & People Coordinator to help us build a strong and consistent pipeline of quality tradespeople and other key employees.
This is not a traditional HR administration role. The primary focus will be proactive recruitment, candidate sourcing and relationship building—finding and engaging good people before we urgently need them.
The position will initially be offered on a part-time basis of approximately two to three days per week, with flexibility around working days and hours for the right person. It may particularly suit an experienced recruiter seeking flexibility around family commitments, returning to the workforce or looking to apply their skills in an in-house role.
About the role
Working closely with HPG’s management team, you will take ownership of our recruitment pipeline and help position HPG as an employer of choice within the plumbing, construction and infrastructure sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively sourcing licensed plumbers, apprentices, supervisors, fire technicians and other operational and support staff
- Identifying and directly approaching suitable candidates through LinkedIn, SEEK Talent Search, industry networks and other sourcing channels
- Writing and managing job advertisements across SEEK, LinkedIn, Indeed and relevant industry platforms
- Screening applications, conducting initial interviews and coordinating interviews with relevant managers
- Building and maintaining a database of prospective employees and maintaining contact with strong candidates
- Developing talent pools for future projects and anticipated workforce requirements
- Managing and promoting HPG’s employee referral program
- Building relationships with TAFEs, apprenticeship organisations, industry groups and other recruitment partners
- Supporting recruitment-focused social media content and employer-branding initiatives
- Assisting with employment offers, reference checks, onboarding coordination and related recruitment documentation
- Monitoring recruitment activity and providing practical updates to management
About you
We are looking for someone who understands that successful recruitment involves more than posting an advertisement and waiting for applications.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or candidate sourcing
- Experience recruiting within trades, construction, labour hire, facilities maintenance, infrastructure or a related industry
- Strong proactive sourcing and candidate engagement skills
- Confidence approaching passive candidates and building long-term relationships
- Experience using SEEK, LinkedIn and other recruitment platforms
- Strong communication, organisation and follow-up skills
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple recruitment priorities
- A practical, proactive approach and a genuine interest in helping a growing business build a strong team
- Experience recruiting plumbers or other skilled tradespeople will be highly regarded
What HPG can offer
- A flexible part-time position of approximately two to three days per week
- Flexibility around working days and hours for the right person
- The opportunity to establish and shape HPG’s internal recruitment function
- Direct access to decision-makers and a management team committed to improving recruitment
- A varied role supporting recruitment across trades, projects, operations and business support
- The opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of an established Aboriginal-owned business
- Potential for the role to develop as the business and workforce continue to grow
