Frontier Travel is looking for a bright, people-focused Junior Business Assistant to work closely with the Director across client relationships, business support, technology and day-to-day activities.
This is a varied role for someone who is early in their career, has some solid workplace experience and is ready to learn. A background in hospitality, travel, aviation, events, premium retail or another service-focused environment could be particularly well suited.
You do not need to have worked as an Executive Assistant before. We are more interested in your attitude, judgement, ability to understand people and confidence picking up new technology.
What the role involves
You will work directly with the Director and support a broad range of activities across Frontier Travel.
A key part of the role is helping maintain bookings and relationships with important clients. That might mean keeping track of when the Director should contact someone, organising a thoughtful gift or acknowledgement, preparing a client message, recording follow-up in Salesforce or making sure an important detail is not forgotten.
You will also help keep projects and business activities moving, prepare documents and communications, maintain information in our systems, coordinate meetings and follow-ups, and assist with general business administration.
Technology is an important part of the role. We use a range of business systems and are constantly looking for better ways to work. You do not need to know our systems already, but you should be someone who learns new technology quickly, enjoys figuring things out and is interested in how automation and AI can make work better.
The work is varied. On any given day you might move between client engagement, a business project, Salesforce data, preparing correspondence, helping organise an event and learning a new system.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who:
- understands people and notices the small things that make an interaction feel personal;
- is naturally thoughtful, observant and interested in others;
- is proactive and willing to take responsibility;
- is organised and good at keeping track of details and follow-ups;
- communicates warmly and professionally;
- is comfortable with technology and picks up new systems quickly;
- is curious and willing to learn;
- can move easily between different tasks and priorities;
- understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion;
- takes pride in doing things properly.
Previous office or Executive Assistant experience is not required.
Experience in hospitality or another environment where you have been responsible for making customers or guests feel welcome and valued would be particularly relevant.
An interest in travel is also important. You do not need to be a travel industry expert, but you should be genuinely interested in travel and the experiences that make it memorable.
About Frontier Travel
Frontier Travel is an established premium leisure travel business specialising in luxury hotels, premium cruises and tailor-made travel.
With offices in Hobart and Sydney, we work with clients across Australia and have a team that includes employed travel advisors, support staff and Independent Contractors.
This role provides an unusual opportunity to work directly with the Director and gain exposure to many different parts of the business while developing your skills and taking on more responsibility over time.
The opportunity
This is not intended to be a role where you stay a Junior Business Assistant forever.
For the right person, it is an opportunity to learn how a successful travel business operates, develop strong business and client relationship skills, become highly capable with technology and systems, and progressively take on greater responsibility.
If you enjoy working with people, notice the details that make a difference and get satisfaction from keeping things organised and moving forward, this could be a great next step. We are looking for someone who brings a strong service mindset, takes ownership of tasks and projects, and is keen to learn, develop and become an important part of the Frontier Travel team.
Please note that this role is a full time, in person role and is not suitable for Work From Home.
