About the Role
This role provides the opportunity to develop a genuine specialisation in health law and medical negligence early in your career. You will benefit from close supervision and mentoring by an experienced partner, exposure to a diverse and engaging caseload, and the chance to build strong relationships with key clients in the medical defence sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer in the early stages of their career to develop specialist expertise. Working closely with the supervising partner, you will act on behalf of medical defence organisations and their insured health practitioners across a broad range of contentious and advisory matters. The role offers genuine variety and early responsibility, with exposure to regulatory work and litigation.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Assisting, advising and acting for health practitioners in regulatory proceedings brought by the relevant boards and tribunals;
- Managing and assisting with the defence of litigated claims involving allegations of clinical negligence;
- Assisting health practitioners in the preparation of coronial statements;
- Advising and resolving billing disputes on behalf of health practitioners;
- Managing claim files on behalf of multiple medical defence organisations and insurer clients.
This role offers significant responsibility, hands-on experience and direct client exposure from an early stage in your career.
About You
- Solicitor or associate with 1+ years' experience in health law
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritise effectively
- Confidence in managing upwards and keeping the supervising partner informed of progress
- Enthusiasm for health law and the complexities it presents
