We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nurse Practitioner with an interest in obesity and metabolic health to join our growing telehealth team.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver comprehensive weight management care within a supportive, patient-centred model that focuses on long-term success rather than quick fixes.
About the Role
As a Weight Management Nurse Practitioner, you will provide virtual consultations and ongoing care for adults seeking support with weight loss, obesity management and associated health conditions.
You will:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients seeking weight management support
- Evaluate medical history, lifestyle factors, weight-loss goals and obesity-related health risks
- Develop individualised weight management plans tailored to each patient’s needs
- Prescribe and manage evidence-based weight loss medications within your scope of practice
- Order and interpret pathology and other investigations where appropriate
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, side effects and patient progress
- Provide education on nutrition, physical activity, behaviour change and sustainable lifestyle modification
- Deliver regular follow-up consultations to optimise outcomes and maintain engagement
- Identify and manage obesity-related comorbidities and coordinate referrals when required
- Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development initiatives
About You
Essential
- Registration with AHPRA and endorsed as a Nurse Practitioner
- Permitted to work in Australia
- Hold or have the ability to apply for a Medicare provider number
- Hold your own professional indemnity insurance
- Endorsement for scheduled medicines prescribing
- Experience in weight management, metabolic health, endocrinology, primary care, chronic disease management or related fields
- Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Strong understanding of obesity as a chronic, complex health condition
- Ability to work autonomously and build therapeutic relationships with patients
- Excellent communication and motivational interviewing skills
- Confidence using telehealth platforms and electronic medical records
Desirable
- Previous experience prescribing and managing weight loss medications
- Experience in lifestyle medicine or preventative health
- Telehealth experience
- Interest in obesity medicine, metabolic health and innovative models of care
