This role sits within the Environmental Health Branch in Health Protection NSW. With your skills and experience, you can contribute to enhancing health and wellness while developing your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia. As a Policy Analyst & Project Officer, you will play a central role, working closely with your Manager to support all aspects of project development and implementation of priority projects, including project planning, monitoring and regular reporting.
Both individually and as part of a team, you will provide policy advice and develop draft public and environmental health policies that deliver strategic initiatives and respond to emerging issues related to Aboriginal communities. On a day-to-day basis you will assist with the management of Aboriginal environmental health policy and programs including housing, infrastructure, and workforce development. You will be involved in project planning, project management, reviewing literature, managing budgets, overseeing project management and monitoring progress against milestones.
The position will require occasional travel to regional or remote communities with overnight stays of up to a week at a time to assist with project delivery.
About you
We are seeking a motivated and high-performing policy and project professional committed to making a difference in the health system. You bring strong understanding and experience in policy, program or project delivery, combined with the ability to navigate complex environments and competing priorities with confidence. With tertiary qualifications in environmental health, public health, built environment, and/or relevant work experience in environmental health or related areas, you are able to demonstrate an understanding of the range and nature of Aboriginal environmental health issues in NSW.
You can build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and have strong communication and negotiation skills, including excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. You effectively use information technology and systems to access and critically interpret literature and apply scientific knowledge and epidemiological methods to the assessment of environmental health risks, particularly in relation to Aboriginal communities. You can work independently as well as part of a small dynamic team.
