About The Role
At Telfer Operations, safety is more than a priority, it's a core value. We're seeking an experienced and engaging Superintendent - Health & Safety to join our HSET team and play a pivotal role in shaping a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace for our people, contractors and visitors.
Reporting to the Manager – Health, Safety Environment and Training, you'll be a trusted advisor to leaders across the operation, partnering with teams to strengthen our safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and support the delivery of operational excellence.

About the Role
As Superintendent - Health & Safety, you will provide strategic and operational safety leadership across the site. You'll work collaboratively with leaders and frontline teams to strengthen risk management practices, improve systems and processes, and ensure compliance with legislative and company requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Building a strong, high performing health and safety team
Leading the ongoing development and improvement of the site's Safety Management System.
Providing practical WHS advice, coaching and support to leaders, employees and contractors.
Supporting and reviewing serious incident investigations to ensure effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across safety systems, standards and processes.
Ensuring statutory reporting and compliance obligations are met.
Facilitating risk assessments and supporting critical risk management activities.
Driving the completion of actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits.
Coordinating safety audits, inspections and assurance activities across site.
Managing site safety documentation and ensuring changes are effectively communicated.
Developing and promoting safety initiatives that engage and empower our workforce.
Championing a culture of accountability, care, respect and learning.
Ensuring the training team support site
Ensuring the site Emergency Team is set up for success
About You
You're an authentic safety leader who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive outcomes and helping others succeed. You bring strong technical WHS capability, combined with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about creating workplaces where everyone feels safe, supported and empowered to contribute.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Work Health & Safety.
Lead Auditor qualification.
Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation methodologies, preferably ICAM.
Current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
Thorough knowledge of relevant WHS legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice.
Desirable
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Experience using Evotix SAI360 or similar incident and action management systems.
Proficiency in SAP, SafeDay, ChemAlert and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working within mining, resources, construction or heavy industry environments.

The operation includes both open-pit and underground mining and Australia’s third-largest gold-copper processing facility.
