Position: Graduate Solar Engineer

Reports To: Senior Solar Engineer / Engineering Manager
Role Overview
The Graduate Solar Engineer supports the design, development, implementation, and optimization of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role provides hands-on experience in renewable energy engineering, including system design, performance analysis, project execution, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Solar System Design & Engineering
- Assist in the design and layout of solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects.
- Prepare technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and system specifications.
- Conduct energy yield assessments and performance simulations.
- Support equipment selection, including solar panels, inverters, transformers, and mounting systems.
Technical Analysis
- Analyze solar resource and weather data.
- Perform system sizing calculations and electrical design studies.
- Evaluate project feasibility, energy production, and technical performance.
- Support battery energy storage system (BESS) integration studies where applicable.
Project Support
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Support construction, commissioning, and testing activities.
- Monitor project progress and help resolve technical issues.
Site Assessments
- Participate in site inspections and feasibility studies.
- Collect field data and assess site conditions.
- Identify potential design constraints and optimization opportunities.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Assist with preparation of permit applications and grid connection documentation.
- Support quality control, testing, and commissioning procedures.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and project files.
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Recent graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic understanding of solar PV systems and electrical engineering principles.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
