Deeps Engineering is a leading, family-owned custom plastic injection moulding and toolmaking business based in beautiful Port Stephens (Salamander Bay). We are seeking an experienced, motivated Die Setter / Injection Moulding Technician who is ready to step up, take ownership of a shift, and grow into a leadership position within our production team.
The Opportunity: This role is structured with a clear path for professional transition and advancement:
- The Trial (Month 1): You will start on a casual basis working Day Shift. This period will allow you to learn our tooling, machinery, processes, and quality standards, ensuring a smooth transition into our operations.
- The Progression: Upon successful completion of the 1-month trial, the role will transition to a permanent Full-Time position.
- The Destination: You will move to the Afternoon Shift with the explicit objective and requirement to take over as the Afternoon Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete safe and efficient tool changes (die setting) and process optimization.
- Troubleshoot injection moulding processes to resolve quality or cycle-time issues.
- Perform material and color changes, and manage raw material supply to machines.
- Conduct regular quality checks on production parts to maintain high standards.
- Safely operate forklifts to move tooling, raw materials, and finished goods.
- Supervisory Transition: Assume leadership of the afternoon shift, managing workflow, ensuring team safety, and maintaining production targets.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Proven Experience: Solid background as a Die Setter or Injection Moulding Technician.
- Leadership Potential: Strong communication skills, reliability, and the willingness and capability to step into a Shift Supervisor role.
- Licensing: Must hold a current, valid Australian Driver’s License and have a reliable personal vehicle.
- High-Risk Work Licence: Current Forklift (LF) licence is essential.
- Availability: Flexibility to complete the initial trial on day shift and permanently commit to the afternoon shift thereafter.
